Ms Thirlwell, a clinical nurse specialist in pulmonary oncology, holds Masters in Science in Biochemistry and in Nursing, and is a faculty lecturer at McGill University. She combines her nursing expertise and her knowledge of molecular biology and oncogenesis to help patients and families to understand cancer, its symptoms and treatments.
Ms. Thirlwell is also a member of the McGill University Cancer Nutrition-Rehabilitation Program Team. She collaborates with the associates in the disciplines of medicine, physiotherapy and dietetics to help patients who are suffering from the debilitating cancer-related symptoms of cachexia, anorexia and asthenia.
